in Dungeons and Dragons

NO 4th edition announcement.

Some interesting tidbits from the guys at Dungeons and Dragons R&D.  Among them:

  • 2006 was the biggest Dungeons & Dragons year EVAR in terms of sales.
  • A replacement for E-tools is not on their priority list.
  • Minis is the new hotness (duh!)
  • 2007 will see a new Tavern Brawl dice game (think 3-dragon ante).
  • 2007 will also see a complete history of the realms, including a timeline.
  • Releases through the end of 2008 are planned, and none of them include fourth edition Dungeons and Dragons.

Very interesting info from the boys over at WotC.  There is some speculation out there, too, that we could see a “3.75″ version of Dungeons and Dragons in 2008 – with new core book releases, but with relatively minor changes, perhaps even less dramatic than 3.0 to 3.5.  That wasn’t from the Dungeons and Dragons R&D guys, however.
