Gamers are people, too.
And not necessarily in the way that you think.
Here’s what I mean. On an average day, if you ask me whether gamers are good people, I’ll tell you “absolutely.” They tend to be intelligent, educated, social, and aren’t afraid of being into something that the vast majority of the people think are weird. Sure, they’ve got their quirks, but they’re decent folk deep down.
Something occurred to me today, though. Gamers are just people. There are some that are intelligent, educated, social, and decent. There are also morons and jackasses. And, in terms of population distribution… I’d have to say that there are an equal percentage of gamers that are jackasses as there are jackasses in the general population. Does it mean that all gamers are jackasses? Of course not.
See, gamers are just people. It’s like Evangelicals. Evangelicals like to think, for example, that their divorce rates are lower than the general population. They’re not, though; not even among clergy. Does it mean all evangelicals are hypocrites? Nope. Just means they’re all people.
Having said that, if I had to choose between being in a room full of gamers (i.e. Gencon) and a room full of evangelicals (i.e. Promise Keepers), give me the gamers. They may not bathe, but, damn are they fun to be around.
